MASSIVE congratulations to our IVW US family on the first day of #IVW21 in the US.
They’ve got a jam-packed week planned with the biggest IVW in the world – there’s over 450 shows taking place in over 350 venues spread across all of the States including Puerto Rico & Washington DC. Hats off to Moose, Cecilie, Will, Bobby & the amazing team at Marauder for all they’ve done to get this event away, especially after the year that we’ve all had.
As there’s so many shows taking place, they’ve created this map so you can search in particular states or cities and on particular days. Or, if you’re like us you might just want to look at the map and look at where all the different venues are.
Performances across the week include hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg at Phoenix’s Celebrity Theatre, roots music icons Steve Earle & The Dukes at Ram’s Head On Stage in Annapolis, midwest indie-pop sensation Beach Bunny at Milwaukee’s The Cooperage, world-class Afro-Cuban percussionist Pedrito Martinez at NYC’s DROM, New Jersey DIY favorites Long Neck, Whiner and PYNKIE at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City, legendary rock’n’rollers The Marshall Tucker Band at Missoula’s KettleHouse Amphitheater, and bass virtuoso George Porter Jr. for his reopening run at Garcia’s in Port Chester.
The team have also put together a range of #IVWTalks, ranging from discussions about getting your first job in live music to venues’ streaming opportunities. Returning with #IVWTalks this year is Get Schooled, a day of panels dedicated to students and young professionals pursuing a career in live music, taking place on Thursday, July 15. You can RSVP a free place to the talks here.
We’ve put together an #IVW21 US playlist so you can enjoy some of the artists playing shows across the week. There’s a real mixture in there – metal bands, hip-hop, country and even a tune from the Spongebob Squarepants Musical.
In celebration, we had an all-American feast in the office today, complete with burgers, fries, root beer & American candy.
We hope everybody has the most amazing week and with any luck we can be back out there to join you in person for your 5th anniversary next year. See you down the front.
