Live Shows and Auction – Please Can You Help?
As you may have seen, the wider area of Calderdale has, once again, been hit by sever flooding. Many homes, business and community spaces have been hit really badly and with more storms hitting for a second weekend, a clean up can’t even properly start yet. People have lost businesses and more.
We are so shocked to see that the beautiful north of England has been hit by such devastating flooding. Calderdale is an area of the UK that we love dearly. We work with absolutely fantastic venues in the area and it’s horrid to see them have to battle against these issues once again.
We have been in touch with our venue and promoter friends there as well as many people at Calderdale Council as this affects to many people. We have collectively said we would try and help in the following ways and we’re asking if you can support asap;
- Fundraising gigs with artists and comedians, keen to support this community – ideally shows that can happen in the next few weeks that will sell out and help generate much needed revenue. Please contact sybil@independentvenueweek.com
- A bigger show at The Victoria Theatre 1500 / 1800 is already in place for 29th March 2020, Flood Aid, but there are dates earlier and since the need is urgent, any and all help appreciated. Please contact Tim.Fagan@calderdale.gov.uk.
The beautiful Piece Hall may have some slots for live shows during their summer season. Whilst this is later, the fund will still be collecting and is an ongoign project so, if you have anyone up for a big show in a stunning setting, please contact Nicky.ChanceThompson@thepiecehall.co.uk
Yes this really is in Halifax, Yorkshire!
Collectively, we are also looking to host an auction and are looking for a range of very special prizes – can any of you help donating records, gift vouchers, shows, festival tickets, kit, meals, holidays, short breaks – anything at all that will help to raise money. Please contact sybil@independentvenueweek.com with anything you can offer please.
There is an existing funding page Community Foundation for Calderdale which you can straight up donate to and hopefully share on your channels please. The goal is £1 million and whilst they are at an already impressive £286,279, there’s still a HUGE way to go. The money raised will help get emergency grants out to householders, charities and businesses affected as soon as possible.
Time really is of the essence here so please do have a think and let the relevant people know what you might be able to do within the next few days.
This is a beautiful part of the country going through an incredibly tough time and we hope we can help them all get back on their feet.
Many thanks all
