We had a fantastic full week line up announced for both Omeara and Lafayette which we’ve fortunately been able to reschedule most of to dates in April and May. All of the shows are socially distanced so the capacities at both venues will be greatly reduced, giving fans the chance to experience live music in a truly intimate setting.
The live music industry has been massive affected by the pandemic. Communion usually promotes around 250-300 shows a year but our last gig took place nearly a year ago and Lafayette and Omeara shut their doors at the very beginning of the pandemic. Our priority is making sure that live music can return when it’s safe to do so.
Communion was founded as a community of musicians and music fans, so it really is at the heart of everything we do. The company was born in 2006 as a monthly live music night at Notting Hill Arts Club and quickly grew into an expansive community which continues to grow to this day. Our aim is to not only give fans the best live experience, but also to make the experience special and hassle free for all of the artists we work with.
Our Independent Venue Week line up is an eclectic mix of bands and artists, some of which we’ve worked with for years and some for the first time on these shows.
We’ve got Billie Marten, Eloise, Louis Dunford, Luna Bay, MarthaGunn and Mosa Wild playing at Lafayette, and April, Chartreuse, Jack Cullen, Mysie, SCORS and Tomfoolery at Omeara. More than half of the shows sold out straight away but if fans are quick, they could be lucky enough to snap up the last few tickets for the others.
We’re hoping this year brings the return of live music! We thrive on filling venues with passionate fans discovering new music and seeing their favourite artists and can’t wait to be able to start doing that again. People miss live music, artists miss performing and we miss bringing the two together. There is a huge appetite from the artists we work with to get back to playing live when it is safe to do so, so our 2021 and 2022 diaries are filling up with some real treats.
