Meet some of the bands playing this year’s Independent Venue Week

We asked Vevo to curate a playlist of some of the highlight’s playing this year’s festival.

With the weeks are pulling ever closer, and the January cycle just starting to settle in, we wanted to give you a taste of what you can look forward to in a couple of weeks. With Independent Venue Week just around the corner, the end of January offers brighter horizons.

Bands across the country will be trooping the colours of independence, taking to independent venues the length and breadth of the UK. With over 190 venues involved, 2018 is going to be the biggest Independent Venue Week yet. But one thing we haven’t mentioned much about is the bands playing these shows.

Instead of offering you end of year lists, we’re about New Year’s refreshers, lists that let us take note of some of the music we’ve had the pleasure to listen to over the last few years.

With so much great music hitting our ears every year, there’s always loads of new music out there to latch on to. Joining us this year for shows at Independent Venue Week, are a wide spread of different artists. We have Scottish-punk-duo Honeyblood, Indie-Poppers The Magic Gang and Frank Turner among so many other brilliant names.

That’s why we asked James Underwood at Vevo to put us together a playlist of some of his highlights playing the festival at the end of January. Giving you a chance to listen out for what we’ve got in store ahead of the week.
