Building on Newcastle’s strong musical heritage, WonderBar Gigs is located right here in the centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Positioned just a stone’s throw from the old Mayfair Ballroom (which famously played host to music icons such as Led Zeppelin, Queen Kylie Minogue and U2) in the heart of the city centre, our new venue will forge a lasting legacy in the region.

WonderBar Gigs is going ska on Friday 29th January, in association with Independent Venue Week, and we’re bringing two cracking acts to Newcastle for a night built for dancing & singing.
Headlining are Skapones, the Darlington-born ska outfit who’ve spent over a decade making their mark on the scene. From supporting The Specials on their 40th anniversary tour to sharing stages with members of Madness and The Selecter, they’ve earned their stripes.
With a catalogue of original releases, chart-topping singles and a reputation built across the UK, Europe and beyond, these are no strangers to a proper ska party.

Blending classic 2 Tone with the fast-paced electronic sounds of drum and bass, their ska-rave style takes things somewhere a little different. Having already supported Bad Manners, they’re proving that ska isn’t standing still.
