US Venue Spotlight – Chicago, IL – Empty Bottle

Empty Bottle opened its doors in 1992 in the Ukrainian Village in Chicago, Illinois. It was originally a tiny bar with a small selection of beers that could be purchased for no more than a dollar fifty each.

A year later it moved to its new location two blocks away, kitted out with a brand-new sound system and a plan in mind for three weekly shows. This plan worked out well, and 25 years later the venue is still alive and kicking.

Empty Bottle is filled with regulars on a nightly basis, and despite the changing times, they can still vouch for their low prices, forthcoming staff, and loyal customers as the secret to their success all these years later.

The venue has a strong neighborhood appeal housing quirky events such as voting afterparties, monthly science showcases, book clubs, and a winter block party.

Artists that have played Empty Bottle include Viagra Boys, Stephen Malkmus, Parquet Courts, The Chills, Ty Segall, and many more.
