US VENUE SPOTLIGHT – Tucson, AZ – The Rialto Theatre

The Rialto Theatre in Tucson will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year, and with an accomplishment of being named Tucson Weekly’s best indoor venue 11 years in a row, it looks like there is no stopping this historic venue.

Despite living through several eras and different owners, the venue has kept its original name meaning entertainment plaza—a place where the common man could go for fun during the roaring 20s. The ethos of the theater has been to provide music for the common man since the very beginning with it initially being the home to ‘talkie’ movies and vaudeville acts.

The Rialto Theatre hosts over 200 shows per year and draws over 100,000 patrons from far and wide with its historical setting being an attraction in itself.

Acts that have played there include Foster the People, The Psychedelic Furs, Swans, Ziggy Marley, The Darkness, Foals, Run the Jewels, Interpol, Tom Jones, and also this year’s Independent Venue Week ambassador, Fantastic Negrito.
