The best rock n roll pub in town, The Half Moon Putney has been in the live music business since 1963. Unforgettable moments encompass Kate Bush’s very first public performance, a surprise appearance by Nick Cave, kd lang’s UK debut, and U2 signing to Island Records after their first sold-out UK show here. Plus we’ve always been synonymous with a certain local band The Rolling Stones, who have all appeared in various side-projects. We’ve hosted legendary acts like John Martyn, Bert Jansch, Elvis Costello, Alexis Korner, Fairport Convention and Steve Marriott, of Small Faces fame, and some of the very best residencies; John Martyn returned for an extended residency, as did Nick Mason from Pink Floyd, Ralph McTell, Danny Thompson, Tim Rose and Roy Harper. We remain a hub for live music, seven days a week, with plenty of new talent emerging from our stage, past IVW acts include Kasabian, The Wombats, Dodgy, Ben Howard, Joy Formidable, Michael Kiwanuka, Imogen Heap, Martha Tilston, James Walsh, Chris Helme, Heather Peace, Jay-Jay Johanson, I SEE RIVERS, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Martin Joseph, William the Conqueror, George Hennessy and London Grammar.
