The Wakes

Pale Fire Music & Left for Dead Records are a totally independent non-commercial voluntary music collective promoting original live music at The Wakes in Telford since 2018. We promote Folk, Roots, Indie, Rock and Jazz and operate on a not for profit basis. Any surplus revenue from gigs goes into equipment and Community Projects.

We offer performing artists free of charge a 4.7kw PA system with a 16 channel mixer but expect them to bring their own instruments, backline, mics, mic stands, instrument leads and audio accessories. We have featured unsigned and signed artists such as Ethan Johns, Tom Baxter, KORNASTONE, The Trail of Thomas Love, Ady Johnson, Orjan Hulten, The Black Rapids, The Gruffs, Netherway, First Mate (Vincent Whyte), Jack Goodall, Matthew Hill, Henry Lowther, Hannah Brown, Sirkis Bialas International Quartet, and Juliet Falls.

In addition to promoting quality live music we give local Colleges and Schools the opportunity for their students to come and get experience as paid performers or work behind the scenes. The Wakes has an audience capacity of 120 (seated & standing) is fully licensed and sells food. It is a 3-minute walk from Oakengates Train Station in Telford (Birmingham to Shrewsbury Line) and only 2.5 miles by car from junction 5 on the M54. Performing artists can bring their vehicles right to the venue entrance which is of modern design meeting the requirements of the Equalities Act 2010 in terms of accessibility. Equipment can be transported to the performance area via a lift.
