The Lab is a small, grassroots music venue in a town with a population of 215,000, who provide an essential platform for independent live music, creative & cultural opportunities since 1980’s. Owned by its members, it is community led & run by a committee of 20 people. We curate a diverse music program across all genres, hosting touring musicians from around the UK & Europe. We host approximately 150 events & 300 live performing artists annually. We are the first place new local projects perform & develop. Providing a variety of in-house promoted, externally promoted and DIY gigs, with quality of equipment and stage facilities. We are also a community hub providing art, spoken word & comedy events, as well as food.
