Olby’s Soul Café and Music Room has played a key part in Margate’s renaissance.
It has strived to embrace the town’s heritage and youth culture and produces 3 major festivals a year as a result.
Margate Mod & 60’s Festival, celebrates Margate history as the place to spend the Bank Holiday Weekend. Live acts appearing have included Brenda Holloway and The Pretty Things with a range of International Soul and RnB DJ’s
Skagate Weekend, brings International Ska and Reggae artists to play live across the weekend with some of the best DJ’s in their field. Previous names have included The Clarendonians and Neville StaplesMargate Soul Festival.
The biggest party in town. Starting with just a couple of DJ’s outside Olby’s Dug Out Bar, overlooking the Harbour, Margate Soul Festival has now spread to multiple venues around the town. During the day there is free entertainment on various outside stages, which move’s into the different venue spaces in the evening. Live acts have included Soul 2 Soul, Arrested Development and Roy Ayres. Margate Soul Festival is a 3 day event and the largest festival of it’s kind in the UK.
Throughout the rest of the year Olby’s Soul Café & Music Rooms holds a range of live music acts and big name DJ’s all which complement our festivals.
As a multi-space, mutli-use venue Olby’s can accommodate one single event across the 3 spaces or 3 independent events simultaneously. Olby’s also serves food, including the famous Olby’s Roast, on a Sunday.
