Having been on the Liverpool nightlife scene for the past 17 years the club has hosted a wide variety of underground scene’s ranging from Jazz Funk to Hip Hop, Drum n Bass, Trance through to the present day where it’s a mainly live music venue with the odd special event club night…
Known locally as “The Zanzi” it has seen some high profiled musicians, bands and Djs grace its stage with the likes of Keane, Travis, The Coral, The Libertines and Noel Gallagher, while DJs Grandmaster Flash epitomise a time when the purist hip hop scene was alive and kicking.
The Zanzibar today puts a wide variety of shows and genre, from Indie to metal, acoustic to thrash, folk to country and accommodating all age groups from all age to 18+ shows.
Whilst the venue’s main aim is to provide a professional live experience for Merseysides strong and ever changing band scene’s, the venue is also host to a string of outside promotions and touring bands with Liverpool Sound City being the most high profiled events.
With the music industry evolving to the stage we are at where money is virtually impossible from major labels Zanzibar support the micro cottage industrialised ideologies that most bands adopt these days of self financing their own productions through CD and vinyl, raising funds through various avenues and live events.
