Bryony Griffith and Alice Jones
Hailing from the close-knit communities of West Yorkshire, Bryony and Alice are established performers of traditional English folk music, united by a mutual fascination with folk song and tune collections from their native county. They draw on a wealth of stories inspired by the landscape and language of their surroundings. Bryony Griffith is an outstanding English fiddle player and singer from Huddersfield in West Yorkshire with a rich repertoire of English dance tunes and songs. Bryony has many strands to her career, having been a member of a ceilidh band, musician for Dog Rose Morris, along with many collaborations, she sang in the much-missed a cappella group The Witches of Elswick and was a founder member of the BBC Folk Award-winning Demon Barbers. She is senior lecturer in vocals and fiddle on the new Folk Music degree. “Bryony Griffith has established herself as one of the most powerful and distinctive vocalists to emerge in the past decade. English folk music at its absolute best”. R2 Magazine Alice Jones is a folk singer, multi-instrumentalist and dancer from Ripponden in West Yorkshire. She sings playing piano, harmonium, tenor guitar and sometimes only body or foot percussion.
