What a week that was…
Thank you to everyone that has supported their local independent venues during #IVW24. That is what Independent Venue Week is about and in the process, some incredible memories have been made.
A host of tours came to an end last night including Steve Mason at the Black Prince in Northampton, Hinds at Trades Club in Hebden Bridge, Hotel Lux at the Horn in St Albans, Ten Tonnes at MASH in Cambridge and CVC at Future Yard in Birkenhead. Artist tours are such a great way of supporting a host of independent venues during the week, and we thank all artists and agents that have helped make these possible.
Sunday also hosted a great mix of genres around the country too: London held intimate jazz jams at the likes of Old Blue last in Shoreditch and at the Fox and Firkin in Lewisham with the Big Firkin Band. Central Bar in Gateshead also hosted their Jazz Club, all ending their #IVW24 weeks in smooth style.
Some venues decided to end their weeks with a lot more noise, including Rebellion in Manchester hosting “Metal to the Masses” and the Factory Live in Worthing putting on their “Electronic Hard Rock Night” headlined by IAMWARFACE. Very different ways of rounding off #IVW24 but both equally entertaining for their local communities and we have loved seeing such an array of eclectic programming across the week this year. Independent venues belong to everyone regardless of your preferred genre or any other walk of life, and it is so great seeing this so cleslry demonstrated in venues across the UK.
Lots more still to come from IVW HQ as we share more from #IVW24 so keep an eye on our website and socials. But in the meantime, head to your local venue’s website, see what they’ve got on and get yourself back out to support – these spaces exist for us year round and they deserve to be celebrated as such.
Enjoy, stay safe and we will see you there!
