Saturday was something else….
#IVW24 Welsh ambassador L E M F R E C K took the roof off the beautiful Gate in Cardiff with his unique ‘in the round’ live set, supported in equal measure by Rug – it was a very special night for everyone there and one no one will be forgetting any time soon. Thank you to him, Brooke and English Teacher for flying the flag for independent venues along with every other artist who has performed this week.
Official #IVW24 partners Beavertown also hosted two very memorable nights around the country, with local heroes Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai and Pixey playing intimate sets at McChuill’s in Glasgow and Arts Bar Baltic in Liverpool respectively. Thank you to them and to Beavertown for all they have done in helping us support independent venues around the UK this week.
Tyne and Queer CIC embraced ‘Sound x Vision’: a fusion of art, music and community collaboration at the Shooting Gallery in Newcastle, whilst the David Hall in South Petherton hosted Bob Harris and Colin Hall presenting ‘The Songs The Beatles Gave Away’, based around their mutual love and appreciation for the Liverpool band.
Tours continued across the country including Chappaqua Wrestling who brought their grungy shoegaze to Three Wise Monkeys in Colchester, whilst the Zutons played a packed out Future Yard in Birkenhead playing some of their most loved hits.
What a week it has been so far – enjoy the last night of #IVW24, support your local venues in any way you can and stay safe!
