Do Saturdays get much better than that?
It’s been an unforgettable week of live music in the UK’s amazing array of independent venues, and last night was no exception.
Glasgow hosted You Me At Six from over the pond at Barrowland Ballroom for the second night in a row, filling the venue both times and delivered on the accolade in anthemic fashion. It’s a prestigious club to be in and they fully deserve to be! Elsewhere in Scotland, Galashiels welcomed national heroes Fatherson for a similarly anthemic night at the beautiful Mac Arts, one that will long live in the memory of all those were lucky enough to be there.
In London at Woolwich Works, a new venue in the IVW family, set the standard for their growing local audience with All Day Breakfast Café. The East London venue are already creating quite the reputation for themselves and based on this show, we can’t wait to see what they bring to IVW24!
The only thing better than a night of live music is a whole day of it, and quite a venues had the same idea yesterday…the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth put on some great artists as part of Icebreaker Festival, whilst the Ferret in Preston hosted their latest edition of Whingefest showcasing a mix of post-punk, garage-rock, avant-garde K-pop and anti-folk. The Future Yard in Birkenhead also closed IVW23 in style as they hosted LIFE, Mandy, Indiana, Two Blinks, I Love You, Slap Rash and Louie Miles.
One more day of live music to celebrate independent venues for IVW23. What is the best night you’ve enjoyed this week? Take a look at tonight’s listings and see if you can top it to end Independent Venue Week with a bang!
