About last night…
The UK’s independent venues have pulled out all the stops for our 10th anniversary this week, and there’s still two days to go!
The immortal Suede closed Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6 Music tour in monumental style at Stereo in Glasgow. Dubbed one of the hottest tickets of the year in Glasgow and for good reason; a special night of live music to end a very special BBC 6 Music tour. Thank you to them, to Steve and the whole BBC 6 Music team for creating such special moments in independent venues all over the UK this week.
Down in London, #IVW23 ambassador Beabadoobee played an unforgettable show at Lafayette in collaboration with War Child and the Brits Trust. It’s clear to see why she is one of the most hotly tipped artists for 2023 and we are honoured to have her as one of our ambassadors for #10YearsofIVW.
Speaking of which, fellow #IVW23 ambassador Philip Selway closed off his tour with the same grace he has carried all week. It was a perfect pairing at Boileroom, made more so from the support of Kris Halpin a.k.a. Dyskinetic, our Independent Venue Community partner who expectedly blew the crowd away with his mi.mu gloves performance. Thank you to him for performing, and to Philip who has been such a dedicated advocate of independent venues both this week and throughout his career.
Anna Meredith returned to her university town of York for the first time in 4 years to play her renowned unique set to a warm and welcoming crowd at the Crescent Community Centre whilst in the South West, Rozi Plain continued her extensive yet intimate tour at the Cornish Bank in Falmouth.
Every corner of the UK has been treated to something truly special for #IVW23 so far, and don’t worry if the working week has stopped you getting out to a show as of yet….you’ve still got two days left to celebrate!
Head to our ‘shows’ tab and check out what’s on offer this weekend. Get yourself out to a show and support your independent venues!
