What a way to kick off Independent Venue Week 2023…

Thank you to everyone that got out to an independent venue on the annual celebration’s very first day.

Ambassador Philip Selway started his tour in style at Norwich Arts Centre, proving his incredible talent is definitely not just behind the drum kit. We cannot wait for the rest of his tour which continues tonight at Cambridge Junction.

Meanwhile, Steve Lamacq’s tour for BBC Radio 6 Music also began with a bang with Sprints at Ramsgate Music Hall. The set showed why this band are being talked about everywhere at the moment and will be even more so in 2023. Catch them playing with Thus Love and M(h)aol at YES in Manchester on Wednesday.

Moving in-land, Pip Blom played an electric set at Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes to keep their English tour rolling with serious momentum. This band are no strangers to IVW in the UK and we are so pleased they are playing over here to celebrate our 10th anniversary. They will be heading to the Margate seaside tomorrow to do the same at Elsewhere.

Moving North, another staple IVW band, The Bug Club made a fine start to the week at the Adelphi in Hull. What a combo! We love these guys and they will be tearing around the UK for you all week, next stop being IVW’s smallest venue at Grayston Unity in Halifax.

We couldn’t have asked for a better first day with so many incredible gigs happening all over the UK. Credit to all the incomparable independent venues for starting the week just right.

Who is ready for day 2?
