US VENUE SPOTLIGHT – New York, NY – Pianos

Since opening in 2002, Pianos in Manhattan has built a reputation as one of New York City’s most prominent independent venues. This two-story venue on the Lower East Side’s Ludlow Street has hosted some of the first concerts by artists such as Passion Pit, Tame Impala, SZA, Courtney Barnett, Imagine Dragons, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, St. Lucia, Empress Of, and A Hundred Waters—and that is just to name a handful!

Pianos kept its name and sign from the actual piano store that used to reside on its Manhattan address and, to this day, the venue’s doors are open to concert-goers, diners, and dancers seven days a week. The venue’s upstairs lounge is known to focus on folk and jazz, while its downstairs showroom spans a wide variety of genres. Pianos houses a restaurant and no less than three bars—combine this with its three DJs in three rooms starting nightly dance parties, and you have a venue embodying the true spirit of the city that never sleeps.

Pianos will be part of Independent Venue Week’s American launch on July 12—stay tuned for show details!
